2-27-13 - Workout

This week has been a tough one for squeezing in workouts.  I'm just starting a new job and for now I'm working 12-9.  Not terrible hours unless you take into account that I'm still up at 6 to get the kids off to school and not getting home until around 10pm.  My workouts and diet are definitely suffering but I'm trying to work through it.

I don't have a link for today's workout.  I know it's a Bob Harper creation.  I think it was originally in Prevention or Women's Day, you know one of those magazines.

Set your interval timer to 45/15

Squat/Sandbag Swing
Weighted Lunge with a twist (alt legs)
Bentover row / Overhead press
Frog Jumps
Surfer Jumps

I did three rounds:
 18 -20 -20
10 - 10 -10
9 - 9 - 9
20 - 18 - 14
15 - 12 - 18

So that's that. I've only run once this week so I know I'm slacking a bit on cardio but other than that I'm feeling OK.  Not seeing any gain yet and still seeing more muscle definition than I used to.

Any tips for inner thighs?  It's def my tough spot!

Weigh-In / Fit Test

I'm not thrilled that weigh-in and fit test day is today.  I've just returned home from a 5 day trip to New Orleans to see family and celebrate Mardi Gras.  I had a fabulous time but only worked out once in all those days and ate A LOT of junk. Also, my water consumption was way down so I knew it would not bode well for today's stats.

Anyhow,  today's weigh in says 210.4.  Seriously, I was expecting worse.  Not much of a loss over the past month but with the time off for the pulled muscle and everything else, I'm taking it in stride.  What else can I do anyway.

For the fit test, I improved a little in most categories:

The workout and my scores from 1/11 and then today's workout

Squat Jumps                                         23              -      26

Push-ups                                               13             -      17

Burpees                                                8                -       6

High Knees                                         50               -      50

Switch Lunges                                    17                -      18

Tuck Jumps                                         10               -      12

Tricep Dips                                         12                -      20

Surfboards                                          16                -      19

1/2 burpee-monkey push-up                 8                 -       9

Bucking Broncos                                11                  -     14

Side Lunge with kick                          14                  -     18

Frog jumps                                         15                 -     17

You can follow the link to see where this test originated:

I'm pretty pleased with these numbers and I'm looking forward to next month's test where hopefully I'll smash these numbers.

2-7-2013 - My workout for today.

Today's workout.

50 push-ups
40 lunges
30 sit-ups
20 squats
10 burpees
60 second plank

Time:  14:02.4

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!

Heading into this one I absolutely did not think I'd be able to do the push-ups but I broke them into sets I could manage and did it.  Pretty proud of the time too.

I originally sourced this one from: www.theascentblog.com

I'd give you the exact link but there seems to be something wonky happening at the website.

Updates

Well, I haven't done much of a job keeping up with this.  Obviously.

It has been a very good couple of months since I last wrote though.

I got on a workout plan that I've stuck with.  5-6 days a week.  I've been doing HIIT workouts from a variety of internet sources.  I like these workouts.  They're intense but short.  I can talk myself into 15 minutes of working out.

Eating much healthier as well.  No more sodas!  Big, huge transformation for me.  I used to drink at least one Coke a day and sometimes much more.  I haven't had a soda in quite a while.  I know that I have a long way to go on really having a good diet but every small step feels pretty good.

And now for what you really want..a numbers update.  That's what matters right?  In late August I weighed 244 pounds.  Ouch.  Yuck.  So many reactions to that number.  As of my last weigh in I am 210.  It's a big difference.  I can see it.  I think because of all of the working out I look much better at this number than I have in the past.  I have some full body pics but I'm a little reluctant to post.  I'm not all that happy with myself still.  I will however at least add some face shots later.

Well that was short-lived.

Well, the diet I posted about didn't work out for me.  Mostly because I threw in the towel after the first day.

By the end of the night I had a pounding migraraine and I was freaking starving for something of substance.  I like fruit as much as the next but at the end of the day texturally I hated fruit.

Also, it just so happened I tried to do that diet over the weekend of my husband's birthday (who wanted sushi and bread pudding, lol.)

Anyway, for my one day of effort I actually gained two pounds.  Not what I was looking for.

But it's a new week and my plan this week is a lot less dramatic.  I am just going to try adding in 30 minutes of workout every day.  It might just be a walk or swim or an actual workout but 30 min is the goal.

Day One of a 7 day cleanse...

or better known as the WTF was I thinking diet?  :-)

I found the information about this diet here:  http://www.justinandashleyrefresh.com/2012/03/eat-your-heat-out-diet-aka-satan-diet.html?m=0

Basically, it's a cleanse during which you are allowed on many of the days to eat unlimited amounts of food as long as it's on the OK list.  I like that word unlimited.  I also like instant gratification.  And I like the idea of  losing 10 pounds in one week.

I do not like giving up caffeine cold turkey.  I do not like being hungry.  I am hungry.  Right now.

Day one is unlimited fruits except bananas.  So far, I've not cheated.  I have eaten watermelon, cantaloupe, and an apple.

I think in another hour or so when I'm eating fruit for dinner I'm not going to be so happy with this diet.
So here I am.   Writing about losing weight.  AGAIN.

The truth is I've been or felt overweight since I was around 14.  There have been times in my life that I've been able to lose some or a lot but inevitably I've gained it all back and added pounds.

Currently I weigh around 240 pounds.  I'd like to lose around 100 of those.  Of course I'd like to do that by eating chocolate cake, lol.

And that is really the heart of my problem.  I don't mind exercise.  I don't tend to make a lot of time for it but when I do I don't mind it at all.  I'm not a particulary lazy or sluggish person.  All of my weight problems boil down to food.  I love food.  I love cooking and baking and eating.

But I am tired of being overweight.  I'm annoyed that H&M has nothing in my size.  I'm unhappy that I'm embarrassed to go the pool. I hate that it takes 3 pieces of pizza to make full instead of 2.

So here I am.  Writing about losing weight.  AGAIN.
